GROUND RULES:
ALL CONTESTANTS
- All events to have equal number of contestants per performance.
- A maximum of twelve (12) contestants (16 contestants in LBR) will be drawn into the first (1st) performance at 6:30pm on Monday June 27th. There will be no novice events or steer riding held in the first performance.
- Timed Event Slack 9:30 am MST each morning.
- Slack Order - SW, TDR, TR *no ladies barrel racing slack*
PAYOUT
- SW, TDR, TR payout will be 8 placings in go-rounds and aggregate.
- BB, SB, BR, LBR payout as per CPRA rulebook.
FORMAT
- SB, BB, BR, LBR - 1 full go-round, with finals (12), top 4 showdown round.
- TDR, SW, TR - 2 full go rounds with finals (12), top 4 showdown round.
- Timed Events (excluding LBR) first go-round run will be in the slack, each morning. Second go-round run will be in the afternoon performance, the same day. (ie., if a contestant is up in the first slack for his go-round run, he will be up in the first performance for his second go-round run).
- In the Timed Events in case of a foul/re-run, spare will be used.
TDR
* Cattle will be tied each morning at 8:30am, then drawn.
LBR
* Maximum of sixteen (16) contestants in a performance
* Rake after ½ contestants in the performance with the most entries on paper
* Must run in through right hand lane (alleyway)
* Out gate will remain open (track) during the event. Must exit through the out gate (track), failing to do so will result in a no time
* Run in, run out as per the CPRA rulebook
TR
* There will be a maximum of twelve (12) teams per performance
* Both members of the team must be full members and/or Semi Pro
* money won in Team Roping will count for High Point/All-Around

- Maximum 72 based on Top 75 blended CPRA/PRCA standings as of June 1, 2022.
- Remaining positions: if any of the qualification categories are not filled by contestants with dollars won leaving open positions; the remaining openings will be filled by a random draw of card holders, then semi-pro card holders.
Qualifications LBR – Full Members ONLY
- Maximum 96 based on Top 100 blended CPRA/WPRA standings as of June 1, 2022.
- Remaining positions: if any of the qualification categories are not filled by contestants with dollars won leaving open positions; the remaining openings will be filled by a random draw of card holders.
Qualifications TR – Full & Semi Pro Members ONLY
- Maximum 72 based on Top 75 blended CPRA/PRCA standings as of June 1, 2022.
- Remaining positions: if any of the qualification categories are not filled by contestants with dollars won leaving open positions; the remaining openings will be filled by a random draw of card holders, then semi-pro card holders. Full carded teams will be placed before teams that include a semi-pro card holder.
Qualifications SB, BB & BR – Full, Semi Pro & Permit Members
- Maximum 72 based on Top 75 blended CPRA/PRCA standings as of June 1, 2022.
- Remaining positions: if any of the qualification categories are not filled by contestants with dollars won leaving open positions; the remaining openings will be filled by a random draw of card holders, then semi-pro card holders. If there are still open positions, all remaining openings will be filled by a random draw of permit holders.
** CPRA Standing as of June 1, 2022 will be used ahead of 2021 standings to fill positions**
NSB, NBB
- Maximum two (2) contestants per buddy group novice events.
- Contestants can enter open & novice events but cannot be up in the same performance.
JSR
- One (1) or two (2) head format will be determined by the committee at entries closing time.
RE-ENTRIES
- If needed, re-entries will be accepted for available positions 48 hours after entries close from 8am-2pm. See rodeo entry information on rodeo schedule. A contestant that re-enters will not be placed in a position that conflicts with his position at another association rodeo or event.
ALTERNATE PROCEDURE
- Contestants who have originally entered and were eligible at time of entry but were drawn out due to qualifications will be added to an alternate list. Contestants drawn out will be numbered as drawn out (ie. 1st drawn out will be number 1, 2nd drawn out will be number 2, and so on). This will be the order of the alternate contestants. Contestants will be notified of their alternate position number at call back at which time they must provide their contact information to be eligible. These contestants will be notified of any turn-outs or doctor releases and be given the option of re-entry up to the 24 hours prior to rodeo turn out deadline. If stock has already been drawn in the rough stock they will draw stock from a pool of animals consisting of all turned out stock for that performance and all re-ride stock for that performance.
* If a contestant notifies a turn-out, DR or visible release and is replaced by an alternate, the alternate contestant will be responsible for the entry fees. If the contestant that notified the turnout or visible release is not replaced by an alternate, they will be responsible for the entry fee. If a contestant properly doctor releases they will not be responsible for entry fees. If a contestant is a non-notified turn-out they will be responsible to pay entry fees whether they are replaced or not. The alternate contestant will also be responsible to pay entry fees. Also, if a contestant turns-out and is not replaced, he will receive a $250 fine (does not include DR's and VIR's).
MEDICAL EXEMPTION
- Consideration will be given to those members who were unable to compete at any rodeos after July 1, 2021 due to injuries.
- A letter on doctor’s letterhead must be submitted to the CRES office prior to entries opening, this letter must detail the time frame in which contestant was unable to compete.
- Injury information must be given to CRES at the time of entry.
PLEASE NOTE: Section VII A. 1 & 3 and Section VIII A. 13 of the CPRA rulebook will be strictly enforced by the Pro Rodeo Officials.
FINALS
- $5000 will be held out in each of the major events for the finals.
- Four (4) monies will be paid in the finals.
- Split 40-30-20-10
TD, SW, TR
- Top twelve (12), if a tie exists, it will be broken by the fastest time on any one head. If still tied, the tie will be broken by the second fastest time on any one head. If still tied the Canadian Standings as of June 20, 2022 will be the tie breaker.
SB, BB, BR
- Top twelve (12), if a tie exits, it will be broken by going back to judge’s card, the high mark contestant on the cowboy spur ride will the break tie. If still tied the Canadian Standings as of June 20, 2022 will be the tie breaker.
LBR
- Top twelve (12), if a tie exists all will be taken over twelve (12).
- The rake will be after ½ of the contestants in the finals.
Turning Out of Finals
- Contestants who turn out of the Finals must notify the local Rodeo Office by Saturday July 2nd no later than 6:00 pm MST.
- A five hundred ($500) turn out fine will apply if contestant fails to notify by the specified time.
- Contestants who are a notified turnout or contestants who are unavailable at the start of the section of their event will be replaced by the next available contestant; next is defined by the 2022 Ponoka Stampede standings.
- Ponoka Stampede reserves the right to roll contestants into the Finals (to total of 12 contestants) in the event of turn outs. In case of ties between 13-14 etc., tie breaker rules to decide the next contestant into the finals, the procedure will be the same as determining the top twelve (12) qualifiers.
