Rider

There are five events in the arena:

Barrel Racing – riding a stick horse to go around safety cones
Goat Tie – tying a ribbon around a stuffed goat tail
Live Horse Back – participants wear a helmet and ride a horse
Roping – roping a plastic steer head attached to a bale of hay
Barrel Riding – riding a slightly rocking barrel, which simulates a bucking horse or bull.

Each event has been adapted for children with special needs. The children are surrounded by volunteers who make sure they wear helmets when riding the horse and that they are kept safe at all times. A first aid station is available while in the arena, with water and the cool wraps to be returned before the end of event.

Each contestant is given awards, a goodie bag provided by local sponsors, a Wrangler bandanna, girls receive a cowgirl sash, boys receive a cowboy banner, snacks, dinner, and rodeo tickets for those who want to see the first rodeo performance. Each year we have a face painter or some type of entertainment. Photos are taken during the event.
